University lacrosse players was held in criminal contempt of court Friday for lying to a judge when pursuing charges against the athletes.
Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith III sentenced Mike Nifong to a day in jail. The former Durham County district attorney, who was already stripped of his law license and had resigned from office, had faced as many as 30 days.
"If what I impose with regard to Mr. Nifong would make things better or different for what's already happened, I don't know what it would be or how I could do it," Smith said.
Nifong showed no visible reaction when Smith handed down the sentence, and he left the courtroom with his wife, Cy Gurney.
Reading his decision from the bench minutes after the end of two days of testimony, Smith said Nifong "willfully made false statements" in September when he insisted he had given the defense all results from a critical DNA test.
Smith found that Nifong had provided the defense with a DNA testing report that he knew to be incomplete. The omitted data contained test results showing that DNA of multiple men, none of whom were lacrosse players, was on the accuser.
Smith said his decision was aimed at "protecting and preserving the integrity of the court and its processes." He said truthfulness is especially important when it comes to the rights of the accused to a fair trial.
When Nifong reports to jail at 9 a.m. next Friday, it will bring an end to the criminal case that began when a woman told police she was raped at a March 2006 party thrown by Duke's lacrosse team.
The team was initially vilified as Nifong — in his first political campaign for district attorney — told voters he wouldn't allow Durham to become known for "a bunch of lacrosse players from Duke raping a black girl."
Nifong went on to win indictments against three players — Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and Dave Evans. But as the case against them progressed, it became clear Nifong's evidence was pitifully weak.
A state bar disciplinary committee later concluded Nifong manipulated the case to boost his chances at the ballot box, and he continued to pursue it even when it became clear the defendants were innocent.
State prosecutors eventually dropped all charges against the three men and declared them innocent victims of Nifong's "tragic rush to accuse."
Nifong recused himself after the state bar charged him with ethics violations, and he was disbarred in June for more than two dozen violations of the state's rules of professional conduct. He resigned a month later as district attorney.
Taking the stand in his own defense, Nifong insisted Friday he didn't intentionally lie about whether he had turned over the DNA evidence. But he acknowledged the report he gave defense attorneys was incomplete.
"I now understand that some things that I thought were in the report were in fact not in the report," Nifong said. "So the statements were not factually true to the extent that I said all the information had been provided."
A defense attorney found the omitted data amid 2,000 pages of documents Nifong gave the defense months after the initial report. Nifong said that by the time he realized the information wasn't in that report, "it had been corrected. The defendants already had it."
"It was never my intention to mislead this or any other court," Nifong said. "I certainly apologize to the court at this time for anything I might have said that was not correct."
Earlier Friday, the director of a private lab who prepared the DNA testing report said the omissions were a misunderstanding.
Brian Meehan said Nifong asked him to test DNA samples from lacrosse players to see whether any matched genetic material found on the accuser.
Although male DNA was found, no sample matched a lacrosse player. Results from the other unidentified men was referenced as "non-probative" material in the report given to defense attorneys, Meehan said.
Charles Davis, the attorney appointed to prosecute the contempt charge, asked Meehan whether Nifong's statement to the court — that the report encompassed everything he had discussed with Meehan — was true or false.
"It would be false because we don't include discussions in our reports," Meehan answered.
On Thursday, Meehan said he was the one who decided how to prepare the report stating no lacrosse player had been linked to the accuser. When Meehan was asked whether Nifong had asked him to leave anything out, Meehan answered, "No."
Defense attorney Jim Glover declined to comment after the hearing.
Finnerty's father, Kevin, said, "It's not a happy day for us, but we're thrilled the system works, that justice has happened, and we're moving on."
Joseph Cheshire, an attorney for Evans, said he felt sorry for Nifong's family, but not Nifong.
"I think what he did was willful and intentional and damaged seriously this state and the lives of these boys and their families," he said. "I don't feel sorry for Mike Nifong. Sorry if that sounds cruel, but I don't."

The boys spent five days in a juvenile detention facility and were charged with several counts of felony sex abuse for what they and their parents said was merely inappropriate but not criminal behavior.

QUESTION: Given that thirteen-year olds cannot give 'consent' to sex and that, as such, any sexual behaviour that they do engage in willingly is still regarded by the law has having taken place without their consent, how is it possible that these boys are guilty of any sexual crime? After all, they could not legally give their consent even with regard to their own behaviour - as is typically argued for similarly-aged girls.

ANSWER: The law is always twisted in order to damage as many males as possible. And in this particular case, those girls who also slapped bottoms have not been prosecuted.

(KUTV) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah A mother is upset after a 14-year-old babysitter engaged in sexual conduct with her eight-year-old boy, and the eight-year-old was charged with lewd conduct.
Prosecutors have since dropped the charges against the boy, but his mother is still concerned.
The sexual conduct occurred during a game of “truth or dare” while the boy was being watched by the babysitter.
Prosecutors say that, while the babysitter initiated the contact, the young boy was a willing participant.
“She dared my son to touch her breasts,” says Michelle Grosbeck, the boy’s mother.
After hiring the teenager to baby sit, Grosbeck got the feeling something was wrong.
“It was just that sense that something wasn’t quite right with this 14-year-old girl,” she said. She asked her son what had happened. “He just came right out as if nothing was awry, and just started talking about what had happened.”
Grosbeck went to police and child protection workers, and the case went to the district attorney, after which her son, age eight, had been charged with an act of lewdness with a minor.
Grosbeck says the Salt Lake County District Attorney told her both the child and teenager were equal participants. But Mrs. Grosbeck didn’t believe that.
“My son is eight, he’s a little boy. He does not have the ability to participate on the same level as a fourteen-year-old,” she said.
Although the charges against her son were dropped, she is concerned that the same thing could happen to other victims of sexual abuse.
“I don’t want parents to be afraid to go to the state agencies that are supposed to be protecting our children when things like this happen, out of fear that their children are going to be charged
The district attorney’s office confirmed the charges had been made, and that they had been dropped. Other than that, they wouldn’t comment. The Division of Child and Family Services also declined to comment.

I managed to get a clip last night from the BBC's Newsnight programme which demonstrates how the BBC persistently tries to avoid portraying 'men' as victims.

The context is the issue of innocent civilians being killed by American forces in Afghanistan. And the BBC reporter is summarising some of the major incidents about which the Afghans are complaining.

Listen to the statistics, and listen especially for the use of the words 'civilians', 'people', 'women' and 'children'. The word 'men' is not mentioned at all. It is very cleverly avoided - even though men clearly make up the vast majority of victims.

A couple convicted of second-degree murder in the beating death of a teenager at a Surrey, B.C., skytrain station has been sentenced to life in prison.
Robert Alan Forslund, 28, will have to serve 17 years before being eligible for parole. He was caught on skytrain surveillance tapes beating 16-year-old Matthew Martins to death in July 2005.
Katherine Anne Quinn, 24, will have to serve 10 years before her parole eligibility. The second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence.
Justice Selwyn Romilly said although Quinn did not take part in the actual beating of the victim, she did encourage it.
Court was told the attack began when Quinn jumped Martins to steal his necklace. The jury heard how she gave Forslund the command to kill by saying, "If you love me, you'll kill him."
The boy was thrown into a Plexiglas wall, kicked, stomped in the head and had his throat cut with a beer bottle.
The courtroom was overflowing with family and friends of Martins. David Toner, Martins's father, said Quinn got off lightly.
"She was really the author of this whole thing. It started with her actions and so I think really it could've been a little heavier for her."
In court, Quinn's father spoke briefly, stating he believes his daughter is innocent. Quinn's lawyer, Jim Millar, has already said there will be an appeal of the conviction.
Sandra Martins-Toner, Martins's mother, had this message for him:
"All I can say to Mr. Millar, Quinn's lawyer, [is] we're waiting."

NEW YORK (AP) -- Four lesbians accused of attacking a man who made advances toward one of them were convicted Wednesday of varying assault charges stemming from the altercation, in which the man was seriously stabbed.
The defendants and some of their relatives and friends sobbed openly and loudly after the verdict was read. One defendant collapsed as she was led from the Manhattan courtroom crying, "No! No! Nooo! I didn't do it!''
None was convicted of first-degree gang assault, the most serious charge against them. All were convicted of second-degree gang assault and face up to 15 years in prison on that charge.
Patreese Johnson, accused of stabbing the victim, Dwayne Buckle, was the only defendant charged with second-degree attempted murder. She was acquitted of the charge. She was convicted of first-degree assault, which carries the same penalty as attempted murder, and faces up to 25 years in prison.
State Supreme Court Justice Edward McLaughlin jailed the four without bail. Before the lawyers spoke, he said, ``There's simply no point in talking. They're out-of-state residents facing mandatory prison time. There's no point in talking.''
The judge said he will sentence the women on May 17. Besides Johnson, 20, the defendants are Renata Hill, 25, Venice Brown, 19, and Terrain Dandridge, 20.
A lawyer for Hill, Susan Tipograph, called the verdict disappointing. She said the women were defending themselves from an "abusive, homophobic'' Buckle. She and the other defense lawyers said they would appeal.
The fight started after Buckle, of Queens, made advances at one of seven lesbians from Newark, N.J., who were walking past him outside the Independent Film Center in Greenwich Village on Aug. 18, 2006.
Johnson testified that they told Buckle, 29, they were not interested and he became loud and rude, called them names and threw a cigarette at them while saying sex with him would make them straight. She said he started pushing and shoving them.
Three other women who were in the group previously pleaded guilty to attempted assault and were sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation.
Buckle testified that he was in a hospital for five days and in bed at home for a month after surgery for a lacerated liver and stomach. He said he also suffered cuts, bruises, scratches and an eye injury in the attack.
Buckle, who has called the incident "a hate crime against a straight man,'' is a movie audio-video engineer and an independent filmmaker. He says he was trying to sell some of his DVDs on the street when the fight started.

Two middle school boys facing sex abuse charges in connection with "spanking" incidents at Patton Middle School in McMinnville are back home with their parents after appearing in court on Tuesday.

More than one-fifth of women in Britain have been the victim of sexual abuse as children, according to new figures.
This week, ministers will unveil a special action plan aimed at increasing the conviction rate against violent sex offenders, including rapists and paedophiles.
The Home Office minister Vernon Coaker is to announce an increase from five to 40 in the number of sexual assault referral centres, where women are provided with medical care and counselling.
He said that sexual abuse and child sexual assault are "horrific and damaging" crimes and added that the Government has a "crucial role" in protecting those at risk.
"These are often the most vulnerable members of our society, and we are working hard to support victims and ensure that offenders are brought to justice, said Mr Coaker."
Official figures show that 21 per cent of women and 11 per cent of men have been abused by paedophiles.
Police officers and barristers will also be given extra training in how to deal with victims of sexual abuse.
Whitehall sources said there is concern among ministers about the low prosecution rate for sex offences and that more help is needed for victims.
The Independent on Sunday revealed in January how rape victims were being failed by the criminal justice system. A damning report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary found that many police officers and prosecutors were not taking on board new policies aimed at increasing the small proportion of cases going to court.
Between a half and two-thirds of victims find that their case does not progress beyond the investigation stage, and of the final number that do reach court, half of these end in the acquittal of the defendant.
Campaigners have blamed the poor conviction rate on judges taking an unsympathetic approach to rape victims.
Ministers have attempted to toughen up the laws on rape by drawing up new guidance, which would mean that a man could be convicted of rape if his victim had been drinking heavily.
However, last week, a top judge was criticised for declaring that a woman cannot claim rape just because she was drunk at the time.
Sir Igor Judge, the Deputy Lord Chief Justice, said that even a woman who is heavily intoxicated may still be able to consent to sex.
His comments came after an Appeal Court ruling freed a young man who was jailed for rape after he had sex with a drunken student.

A WOMAN terrorised a man she falsely claimed had raped her after a one-night stand five years earlier.
Debbie Oldham, 27, went to the man's flat in Glasgow's West End with three masked men and her rottweiler dog.
Oldham demanded cash, and the 25-year-old victim was threatened, assaulted and had possessions stolen and trashed.
The man's one-hour ordeal only ended when he was forced to make a false confession of rape.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday, Oldham was ordered to perform 240 hours' community work.
But Sheriff Ian Peebles QC warned her if she failed to carry out the work she could be jailed.
She earlier admitted the extortion bid, which was said to have ruined the man's life and given him recurring nightmares.
Oldham, of Buccleuch Street, Cowcaddens, and the man went the same school. In 2000, they bumped into each other in a nightclub and later had "a brief sexual encounter" but did not stay in contact.
In late 2005, Oldham discovered where he was living in Glasgow.
Joe Stewart, prosecuting, said a series of phone calls were made on October 10, accusing the man of rape five years earlier.
The next day Oldham appeared at his door with her rottweiler before three men in balaclavas barged in.
Mr Stewart said: "Oldham and two of the masked people shouted and swore at the man, calling him a rapist.
"He was threatened and pushed around the room, Oldham slapped him on the face and one of the others punched him."
The gang made the hysterical victim confess to raping Oldham.
He was robbed of clothes, audio and computer equipment and Oldham trashed expensive DJ decks and speakers.
Before fleeing, Oldham said she would be back to get money and could get £18,000 compensation for the alleged rape.
Oldham told police she was raped by the man in 2000 - but prosecutors did not proceed with the case.
She was later quizzed by police about the raid on the man's flat and admitted being there.

A father has narrowly escaped jail for harassing his ex-wife's sister, in vain attempts to see his own children.
Terry Hunt has been kept from his children since he split from his wife four years ago.
Hunt, who appeared in court on the day of his eldest daughter's 14th birthday, complained to magistrates he could not even wish her happy birthday.
It was revealed that he: * Made a throat-slitting gesture at Linda Murphy.
* Ranted at Mr Murphy on the phone while parked outside his house.
* Threatened to make a protest outside Mrs Murphy's workplace.
* Accused Mrs Murphy and husband John of kidnapping his children.
* Made hand gestures and shouted at Mrs Murphy as he pursued her in his car.
* Shouted and made aggressive gestures at her in the street.
* Sent her a letter alleging she was mentally and emotionally abusing his children because he could not see them.
Hunt, aged 45, of Chadwick, Warndon Villages, a former Fathers 4 Justice campaigner, hit the local headlines with his Spiderman protest on the roof of Worcester Crown Court in July 2004.
He was fighting for the right to see his two daughters following the collapse of his 13-year marriage four years ago.
But he appeared in ordinary clothes for sentence after he was convicted of harassment. This placed him in breach of a two-year conditional discharge handed out after the roof-top protest.
Paul Vaughan, chairman of the bench, said: "There's no doubt in our mind that those on the receiving end of your actions were indeed put in fear."
He added: "I think I should say that we do not believe that the offences pass the custodial threshold. We're not going to send you to prison today but it's a fine decision."
Gemma Goode, prosecuting, said he called his sister-in-law several times, wrote letters demanding to see his children, said he would mount a protest at her work, shouted at her and made aggressive gestures at her in the street and followed her in his car between October 31, 2003, and April 2 last year.
Apart from the community order he was given a restraining order preventing him contacting Linda Murphy or her husband John and his mother-in-law.
He must not enter Hetherington Rise, Warndon, where his mother-in-law lives or go near the home of his ex-wife's sister in Cartwright Avenue, Warndon.
Mrs Murphy, who is now taking anti-depressants, said in a statement read out by the prosecutor: "I feel embarrassed and humiliated at work. I feel increasingly anxious and vulnerable. I would just like him to leave me alone."
Chris Hilton, defending, said Hunt had not been involved with Fathers 4 Justice for the last 18 months and had not breached his bail conditions.
He added: "Since he split up from his wife four years ago he has had no direct face-to-face contact with his children other than passing them in the street by chance."
Hunt was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and pay £625 prosecution costs instead.
Speaking after the case Hunt spoke of his great relief he was spared prison.

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to rule whether a 200-year prison sentence for an Arizona man convicted of possessing child pornography is excessive.

Morton Berger, 57, appealed Arizona state law that stipulates the maximum sentence of 10 years for each of his 20 convictions must be served consecutively, rather than concurrently, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

The former high school teacher's credit card number was found in the records of a child pornography Web site and police found images stored on his computer.

In his appeal to the high court, Berger's lawyers claimed the consecutive terms were unconstitutional.

"If this court reviews Berger's entire punishment instead of examining the sentence for a single count, it would find Berger's punishment cruel, unusual and unconstitutional," the legal brief said.

Earlier, the Arizona Supreme Court also refused to hear the case, saying with only one dissenting note the sentence of 10 years for possessing a single pornographic image was not excessive or disproportionate.

Why didn't they just make child porn possession subject to the death penalty? It would have been more humane than the law they actually implemented. So let me see if I have this right--the Supreme Court would have overturned a law implementing the death penalty for this crime as cruel and unusual punishment, but they upheld THIS?! Apparently de facto torture and a de facto death sentence for looking at pictures is not cruel and unusual punishment. Wow. She is very consciously trying to stir up even further this kind of violence (and, indeed, hatred) towards men, but she is being careful not to break the law and not to incite too much in the way of complaint.

Take it from me. I know what she is up to!

Furthermore, her articles follow a classic technique for demonising groups and inciting violence towards them.

1. Outline particularly horrible acts perpetrated by a very few members of the targeted group and then give the impression that huge numbers of that group are engaging in and/or endorsing the same particularly horrible acts.

2. Suggest that violence against the entire group is warranted.

And for those who remain sceptical about her inciting violence, I re-write the second paragraph above from the point of view of a man who has been falsely accused of rape.

We may as well forget about the criminal justice system and train groups of vigilantes to exact revenge and, hopefully, deter women from making false accusations. Because if I were falsely accused, I would rather take my chances as a defendant in court [for vigilantism], than as a complainant in a system that seems bent on proving that accusing women are always telling the truth.

Essentially, she is arguing that women should break the law and commit acts of violence in order to achieve 'justice'.

It was good to see the Times publishing an article by Rod Liddle that exposes the truth behind the reasons for women failing to reach parity with men in the higher echelons of business - an article that was drawn to my attention by Darren's CoolTools4Men.

Watch out ladies — the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is after you. According to this organisation’s latest fatuous annual survey, paid for by you and me, some 6,000 women are missing from Britain’s boardrooms.

The sole reason for this, according to the EOC, is simple: discrimination; discrimination against women by men.

[But] It has not remotely occurred to them that there might be any other cause, such as a comparatively smaller proportion of women who wish to become company directors, MPs, councillors and the like. Or, indeed, that a smaller proportion of women may possess the abilities to do these awful jobs.

But, of course, Rod Liddle is wrong.

The notion that the EOC is not aware of the fact that women are less committed than men to the workpace is risible.

Indeed, there is surely no longer any realistic doubt in the minds of most intelligent people that women are bound to do less well than men in the workplace because, quite simply, they are less committed to the workplace. And those working at the EOC are undoubtedly aware of this. Indeed, it is inconceivable that they are not aware of the fact that the aspirations of women must have at least something to do with it all.

But why does the EOC not mention this?

Why does the EOC not point out that women, themselves, are at least partly responsible for the fact that they achieve less than men in the workplace? Why must they pin all the blame on men?

Well, the answer to this question must be that the staff at the EOC are purposely trying to fuel hatred toward men in order to further their agenda. There is no other realistic explanation for their dishonesty.

Furthermore, as we know, the stirring up of hatred towards men is the very essence of feminism - an ideology that thrives ONLY by the continual demonisation of men; e.g see Some BBC Propaganda Tricks.

Certainly, in comparison to the amount of hatred towards men purposely fuelled by various other feminist-controlled bodies and, of course, by the 'abuse industry' itself, this dishonesty by the EOC might seem comparatively trivial, but the effects of it, nevertheless, spread way beyond polite discussions about the progress of women in the workplace. For example, the very idea that men throughout the workplace are busily discriminating against women makes women throughout the land feel completely justified in doing their best to undermine men in many other circumstances, and it raises the hostility that, in general, they feel towards men.

And so what we see here is a very good example of a government agency (organism) profiting itself - justifying its existence, providing jobs for its staff, furthering the feminist cause - by demonising men. Furthermore, not only is this demonisation quite unjustifiable, the negative ramifications of it spread far beyond any academic discussion.

As such, I have no hesitation at all in describing the staff at the EOC as nothing more than pernicious parasites; that is, people who profit by damaging others and by damaging their very own societies.

In my view, these people not only waste the money and resources that we expend on them, they actually inflict a huge amount of damage on us all.

And I have no respect for these people at all. And neither should you!

Indeed, how would you feel about a group of people who went around smashing cars, breaking the windows of houses, throwing rubbish everywhere and, in general, damaging the environment in which you lived?

Why feel any different about those who purposely set out to do the very same to all our relationships?

Will people stop a woman abusing a man? "Primetime" hired actors to find out.

It's the kind of sweaty summer day when you might expect tempers to be short. Even so, though, the scene on a park bench in northern New Jersey strikes bystanders as a bit odd. A young woman with fiery red hair leans over her hapless boyfriend, screaming in his face.

"Nate, stop ignoring me!," she implores, just inches from his face. He all but ignores her.

"You're not even…" She pauses and moves her face even closer to his.

"Hello…Hello! " she screams. At times her rage boils over to physical abuse: she pulls the young man's hair, slaps the side of his head, and beats him with a rolled-up newspaper.

Fortunately, the troubling scene isn't real. The abusive woman and her boyfriend are actors, hired by "Primetime" for a hidden camera experiment.

On previous shows, "Primetime" has staged scenes of abuse in which the man is the aggressor, and the woman is the victim. And in these situations, passersby - men and women - often stepped up and intervened. So producers were curious. What would happen if the tables were turned, and the man was suddenly the victim? Would people be just as willing to come to his defense?

This staged scenario happens more often in real life than you may think.

According to Colgate University psychology professor Carrie Keating, women abusing, even assaulting their male partners "is a big problem in this country."

"There are some data that suggest that women actually hit more than men do," says Keating. "Men create more damage, but women hit more than men do."

A report prepared for the Centers for Disease Control estimates that each year there are over 800,000 serious cases of men being physically abused by women. But the actual figures are believed to be much higher, since many men are often too embarrassed to admit being the victim of abuse by a woman.

Even professional athletes, with their macho reputations, have alleged abuse. In 2002, Major League pitcher Chuck Finley's wife, actress Tawny Kitaen, was arrested and jailed after he accused her of pummeling him, causing bruises and abrasions. She pleaded not guilty, and charges were dropped after she agreed to attend anger management classes.

'You Go Girl'?

Verbal and physical abuse of men by women might be an acknowledged problem, but will people try to stop it when "Primetime"' s hidden cameras are rolling?

One after another, passersby witnessed the abusive scene… and kept right on going.

Mathilda was one of those bystanders. She says she didn't think the man was in any physical danger, and could probably take care of himself. "I didn't immediately think to protect the man at all," she said. "It didn't look like any harm was being done."

The reaction of another woman, Lynda, was stunning. As our actress continued to heap abuse on her make-believe boyfriend, she walked by the scene and pumped her fist in a show of sisterly solidarity.

"Good for you. You Go, Girl!" is how Lynda recalls her reaction.

"I was thinking he probably did something really bad," she said. "Maybe she caught him cheating or something like that…and [it] made her lose it and slap him in the face. I reacted like, 'Yes. Woman power.'"

This type of reaction didn't come as a surprise to Keating. Observers often
excuse their "own lack of response by denigrating the victim and making up stories that he really deserved the punishment he was receiving," Keating says.

She says that perhaps these people have some past frustration in their
lives which makes them "actually enjoy vicariously the experience this
woman was having by being aggressive" toward her boyfriend.

'Old-Fashioned Views'

Later, a husband and wife out for some exercise observed the abusive situation and continued on their way. So "Primetime's" producers stepped in and asked, "Why not stop or at least call 911?"

"What they were havin' there…[they were] just havin' a little tiff. They'll be all right," said the man, a police officer in a nearby community. His wife old "Primetime" that she would have found it "more upsetting if [the young man] had put his hands on" the young woman."

"Oh, without a doubt," her husband readily agreed, acknowledging the double standard. "Call it old-fashioned views. If you're raised the way I was raised, you don't put your hands on a woman, right?"

Keating says that holding those kinds of values and beliefs "is going to give them a very different lens through which they see the behavior of the actress, the aggressiveness of the woman against the man. They under-value the potency of her responses."

Over two days of taping, "Primetime" watched 163 people just walk right by the actors - the abusive woman and her boyfriend. Of all those who had the chance to step up and get involved, only one group of women stopped.

After taking time to assess the situation, these women - four of them - gathered at a distance to assess the situation. They then sent an emissary to offer the fighting couple some assistance.

But when the actress replied that "this is not your business," the woman
respectfully walked away.

BELLMEAD- A four-year-old hugged his teachers aide and was put into in-school suspension, according to the father. But La Vega school administrators have a different story.

Damarcus Blackwell's four-year-old son was lining-up to get on the bus after school last month, when he was accused of rubbing his face in the chest of a female employee.

The prinicipal of La Vega Primary School sent a letter to the Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

Blackwell says it's ridiculous that the aide would misread a hug from a four-year-old. Blackwell wrote to administrators demanding that the whole incident be expunged from his son's academic file because his son is too young to know what it means to act sexually.

David Davis, the executive director of the Advocacy Center in Waco tends to agree with Blackwell. He says assuming the boy has not had sexual encounters, or been inappropriately exposed to pornography, most four-year-olds are sexually innocent.

Blackwell got a response from the La Vega administration. The sexual references on the discipline referral were removed. But the thing that makes Blackwell most upset is they told him "your request for an apology by the aide and removal of all paperwork regarding this incident is denied." Now the young student's file will refer to the incident as "inappropriate physical contact." And Blackwell says he will continue to fight the district.

La Vega I.S.D. administrators told News Channel 25 they couldn't comment on this case because of student privacy issues.

29 Boys Died In Prison

Yep; from what I could tell from the list of names shown by the BBC's Newsnight programme, they were ALL boys.

But the BBC Newsnight team did not mention this fact throughout the programme. The deaths were said to be those of 'children'.

Indeed, despite the fact that some 10 times more male than female prison inmates commit suicide in UK prisons, Newsnight has had two stories focusing on female inmate suicides but none, as far as I am aware, that focus on male suicides.

And the reason for this is that the BBC is always at pains to actively hide any suffering that men and boys might be enduring.

Krugersdorp's Ann-Marie Engelbrecht, convicted of killing her husband Jaco, was on Friday sentenced to be detained for five minutes.

In passing sentence, Judge Kathy Satchwell ordered that Engelbrecht be "detained until the rising of the court" for tea.

In a long, detailed sentence explanation, Satchwell said that Engelbrecht served her sentence in advance as "none of us will ever know or comprehend her suffering over the years".

Satchwell pointed out that Engelbrecht's husband had been a control freak with a history of physical and alcohol abuse.

Engelbrecht had not been in control of herself on the day of the murder (June 29, 2002) and, while not being completely responsible for her actions, had in fact "programmed herself" to murder him.

The relatives of the deceased were unhappy and one family member told Sapa reporters that she was "speechless".

Six months after the Engelbrechts' marriage everything turned sour.

Nine years later Ann-Marie Engelbrecht thumb-cuffed her husband's hands behind his back and sat in an adjacent room as the air in the plastic bag she had placed over his head slowly ran out.

By the time they're 8, many girls already see themselves as second-class citizens.

That's why the province is now targeting girls from 8 to 14 in a $1.4 million campaign on dating violence and sexual harassment, said Sandra Pupatello, Ontario's minister responsible for women's issues.

The campaign, announced yesterday, encourages equal, healthy relationships between boys and girls, and includes an interactive website (www.equalityrules.ca/en/index.html) and ads.

Pupatello said she was surprised at how early the seeds of abuse are planted in children through negative self-images.

In fact, the campaign had to be reworked after it was realized through focus groups that material was needed for both teens and younger girls.

While most of the click-on scenarios feature boys bullying girls, some young females surfing the site last night suggested there should be messages about girls bullying girls, too.

"Girls being mean to each other happens every day — one actual fist fight between girls broke out at school this fall," said Sophie Tassone, 13, who tried out the activities with classmate Shannon Grant.

The various Web scenarios show boys insulting, controlling or ridiculing girls, and then suggest how girls can respond when that happens.

Their favourite was a cartoon about a guy harassing a girl through text messaging "UR Hot!" — something Shannon said "relates to our life at this age."

"Guys are always messaging girls telling them they're hot, and if it happens 24/7, it can get creepy."

"A lot of guys do think they're better than girls," Sophie said, "and it's really annoying, so everyone can relate to these scenes in some way."

At times, the girls said, the advice goes too far — like recommending a girl call Kids Help Phone, the national toll-free advice line, if a boy is harassing her by text-message.

"That's not realistic. I'd just tell my girlfriends," Shannon said.

But the website "does help girls know they're not the only ones with this kind of problem," Sophie said.

Pupatello said yesterday the government was "astounded by 8-year-olds that have already determined in their own mind that they are the lesser of the sexes."

"It is quite unbelievable to think that 8-year-olds have realized they're just a girl and therefore they're destined to be the lesser in a relationship," she said.

"We've got to change that view because that ultimately drives the kind of relationships you'll have in your lifetime. Governments historically have always dealt with the issue of domestic violence after the fact. If we don't get to the root cause of these issues, we're never going to make headway."

The campaign features a television and movie theatre commercial, and a website, EqualityRules.ca, designed to teach girls how to recognize abuse and regain the upper hand in negative encounters and relationships.

At EqualityRules.ca, the section aimed at preteens asks whether girls and boys can be friends. Ten-year-old Emily Gale says, "Sure! I'm friends with a boy — Gavin — and so is my friend Erin, although in my class, girls and boys don't really play too much together."

The Grade 5 student at north Toronto's Maurice Cody Public School visibly enjoyed surfing the new website last night, clicking on cartoons that deliver straight-talking messages against "men bossing their wives around and hitting them."

"I think some boys should go on the website, too. It would be good for them to see what it says about respect and healthy relationships."

The government campaign also includes $1.2 million in grants to community groups set up education programs.

Millions of people have seen the video of the accuser doing a pole dance at a strip club at the same time she and the police were claiming she was too injured even to sit upright. The second stripper at the infamous lacrosse party now claims that the accuser told her to hit her in order to inflict bruises in hopes of being able to frame the players on criminal assault and rape charges. William Anderson - 10 min - about the persecution and impending prosecution of three young American male students who are clearly innocent of any assault. Even the second woman involved in the matter has testified in public to the lies of the alleged victim.

The is an excellent example of feminist and racial activism coming together to create hatred towards white men.

Steven Kaminski - finally compensated

OTTAWA -- An Alberta man who spent seven years in prison for a sexual assault he didn't commit was the recipient of a $2.2-million secret settlement by the RCMP for malicious prosecution, Sun Media has learned.

Steven Kaminski was labelled a dangerous offender in a bizarre case his lawyer has described as "unusual beyond belief." The former chef was convicted in 1992 of raping a co-worker, but it was later revealed the female complainant had sex several times with the Mountie assigned to investigate the case, as well as with a witness called to testify against Kaminski.

Despite his protests the encounter was consensual, Kaminski was found guilty of entering his 24-year-old co-worker's cabin at a resort near Red Deer and raping her.

Former federal justice minister Martin Cauchon eventually ordered a new trial, but provincial authorities opted not to proceed with a new prosecution.

The whopping $2.2-million payout was quietly listed in the government's just-released public accounts documents, but the name of the recipient was withheld.

Kaminski's lawyer Hersh Wolch could not confirm his client's settlement due to a confidentiality agreement.

"The case is closed; I can say that," he said. "We are content with what occurred but we are bound by confidentiality."

Wolch is the Calgary-based lawyer who helped David Milgaard get $10 million for the 23 years he spent behind bars for a murder he didn't commit -- the biggest wrongful conviction payment in Canadian history.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of Kaminski claimed $10 million in damages for defamation, malicious prosecution, negligent conduct and conspiracy, and accused Ottawa of being slow to review the case.

James Lockyer, a top Canadian lawyer who represents the wrongfully accused, said confidentiality clauses "almost always" come at the request of the government to keep damaging details from the public.

"I think it's disgraceful, but that's what you have to do," he said. "As a taxpayer, you feel you're entitled to know where your dollars are going and when a public institution is at fault, you're entitled to know how."

Two points.

1. Governments usually impose confidentiality clauses in cases of miscarriages of justice such as this; and these, basically, threaten those who have already been hideously mistreated with strong sanctions should they tell others about their experiences.

2. Those convicted of sex offences - whether guilty or not - can reduce their sentences substantially by admitting their guilt once inside prison. The idea behind this is to force even innocent men to admit their guilt in order to cover up the large number of miscarriages of justice that take place in the area of sex assault.

And, on his site, Ray likes to poke fun at men who have been seriously injured.

Ray likes to encourage people to laugh at the serious injuries that men might suffer. He would like you to post your images of seriously injured men to him.

And, for example, the fact that our men in the military and those working in law enforcement are often maimed or killed in order to protect the likes of Ray clearly troubles him not a jot.

He laughs at their injuries. And he actually encourages other people to laugh at them too.

Of course, Ray is entitled to his freedom of speech. And if he wants to encourage people to mock men who are seriously injured then this is up to him.

But we have freedom of speech too.

As such, we should be using our freedom of speech to try to dissuade him from poisoning the world in which we live through his continued encouragement of people to poke fun at those who have suffered from some serious misfortune.

We Must Take a Stand Against Male-Bashers.

I would like to address the problem of male bashing in our culture, and to propose the solution. Male bashing cards are everywhere. TV commercials portray men as fools. While violence against women on TV is denounced, revenge fantasies in which hundreds of man are cut up, castrated and tortured are blockbusters. Sin City got $33M in sales the first weekend it was released. In 2005, a TV series called "Bring Your Husband to Heel" compared men to dogs. A recent ABC presentation described men as unnecessary.

Men are the the only birth group against whom negative generalizations are acceptable. The slightest negative generalization about women by a reporter would get him subject to a long series of attacks and possibly fired.

The constant stream of male-bashing solidifies the perception of men as violent, inferior, and undeserving of fairness. It teaches our dear daughters, sisters, and mothers and our beloved wives and girlfriends to see us as the enemy. It also robs us of dignity and humanity, and destroys our self-esteem.

Anyone knowledgeable about domestic abuse knows how much harm is caused by constant verbal abuse. And yet this is the abuse all men have to endlessly endure from misandrists.

I would like to address the question of why there is so much hate and abuse of men in the modern media. Many of us -- even many MRAs think that misandrists do not understand how much they are hurting us. Many of us would think that these abusers do not understand how hateful would their humor sound if it was directed against any other birth group -- like women or an ethnic group. That is where I disagree. The main goal of male bashers is hurting men. If they did not want to hurt us, they would not do it!

Another issue we need to look at in order to understand male-bashers is the psychology of a predator. The sad reality of life is that some people need to put others down in order to raise their own self-esteem or take out their frustrations. And any predator is very likely to select a target which can be considered safe or fair game. That is why most child abusers and spouse abusers would never try to beat up their boss at work. That is also why misandrists would not try to attack any politically incorrect target.

Many of us hope that as time progresses the nightmare of male-bashing will go out of fashion. That is what we hoped for in 1986 and 1996. But history has proved our optimism to be wrong. Male bashing has greatly increased from 1986 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2006. Male bashing has escalated not only quantitatively but also qualitatively. In 1990 portraying a man as a villain was enough, but now the theme of revenge against men is becoming increasingly popular. In the 1980-s male bashing shows were content with showing men slapped, by the late 1990-s groin kicks became more popular, and now castration is the ever-growing theme. As time goes misandrists will have to introduce worse and worse themes to make male-bashing appealing.

Likewise, we can expect misandry to grow in volume.

Fortunately, more and more men and women are speaking up against malebashing.

Between 1992 and 2002, the number of complaints from men about the bashing grew 10 times. Australian Bureau of Advertising gets more complaints about malebashing then it does about misogyny. When BBC aired "Bring Your Husband to Heel", it got 350 complaint emails. No less then 4,000 individuals have participated in Glenn Sacks' campaign against boy-bashing. After the above-mentioned misandrist ABC program, most of the discussion on their 20/20 forums was about their misandry.

Given that more and more of us are protesting against misandry, many of us can hope that the wave of male-bashing may subside. But I do not share the optimism. I believe that before the wave of male bashing will stop its escalation, there will need to be qualitative changes in our response to male bashing. Our current responses are very inefficient. We tell male-bashers how much they have hurt us, which is good news for those of them who do it for fun and no news to those who do it for profit. We appeal to their sense of fairness, which is futile.

In my opinion, the only way to contain the verbal abuse of men is to hold the perpetrators accountable. One suggestion for doing so is to boycott male-bashing companies. Given that the majority of Americans are too used to misandry to notice it, that approach is unlikely to work. My suggestion would be to take another look at the First Amendment. The First Amendment allows any misandrist "producer" to air a show with a message that all men are dogs. But the same amendment allows any man or any women who considers us human to write a blog entry about similarity of that "producer" to a dog. Or to address her/him in four-letter words. Or write a sexual joke about them.

Our laws are very liberal in respect to what we can say about a public figure. Any major production comparing men to dogs or otherwise abusing us should result in more then just 350 complaints. In an ideal situation it would also result in 500 derogatory blog entries (by different authors!) about the producer plus a blogosphere review of the producer's past faults. If that is ever achieved, then the reputation of any male-basher would suffer as much as the reputation of any other bigot. That will provide some deterrence against verbally abusing men for fun or profit. Moreover, that will encourage more men and possibly women to stand up for men's rights.

Another solution to stopping male-bashing would be to create an online encyclopedia of male-bashers, their quotes, their indiscretions, and their verbal characteristics from website users. Such a site would allow anyone insulted by media male-bashing to register the abuser, expose the abusers faults, or just vent about them. That would be neither illegal nor unfair. Indeed, many such user-generated databases exist. On ratemyteacher.com and ratemyprofessor.com, anyone can rate their instructor. These databases contain anonymous comments on most schoolteachers and professors in the USA!

A male-bashing website dontdatehimgirl allows anyone to post anonymous accusations against any man, along with his name, photo, and city of residence. Some men are trying to sue the site, but according to the Communications Decency Act of 1996, webmasters are not responsible for posts made by their website users. Hence, a site rateamalebasher.com would be a great idea.

As I write this article I can almost hear a choir of critics saying "attack the idea -- not the person". But it was very well known even before Hammurabi that until the abusers are held accountable, the abuse is not going to stop! Some of us would argue that making a webpage ridiculing some male-basher is unfair, but I believe that not doing so is far more unfair to all men suffering constant verbal abuse from the media.

Given that I am not a major player in the men's movement, I understand that my article will accomplish very little. I understand, that most men's activists will continue to address male-bashing without holding the perpetrators accountable. And yet I do predict that sooner or later -- I would guess within the next two decades most MRAs will reach the same conclusions as I did on their own. And only then will we see the gradual liberation of men from constant abuse.
